Pet Nanny in Bicol: A Furparent’s Simple Idea That Became Something Special

As a furparent, I know how difficult it can be to leave your pets behind when you need to travel. You can prepare their food, explain their routines, and make sure they have everything they need, but there’s still that lingering question:

Are they really going to be okay while I’m away?

That’s why I wanted to share the story of Pet Nanny, a pet care service in Bicol, founded by Isabela Krizzia.

What caught my attention wasn’t just the idea of having someone look after your pets. It was how the service began, the animals who became part of its early journey, and the very personal reason Isabela decided to start it.

How Pet Nanny Started With a Random Thought on the Way Home

Pet Nanny wasn’t born from a big business plan. According to Isabela, the idea came to her while she was traveling home to Daet after a work trip in Legazpi.

She was thinking about her dogs, Luffy and Percy, and facing a familiar problem: who could she trust to care for them whenever she had to leave for work?

She didn’t just want someone to feed them. She wanted someone who would send updates, let her know whether they had eaten, tell her what they were doing, and notice if something seemed unusual.

Then she thought,

“What if may service na ganito dito?”

When she got home, she created a Facebook page for Pet Nanny without expecting much. But day by day, inquiries started coming in.

It turns out that other furparents were looking for the same thing: someone dependable who understood that their pets weren’t simply animals left at home. They were family members waiting for them to return.

Meet Tommo, Pet Nanny’s First Client

Pet Nanny’s first client was Tommo, a dog who needed extra attention because he was undergoing treatment.

He stayed under the team’s care for around two weeks. Isabela shared that Tommo had previously been bedridden and that they later saw encouraging improvements, including his ability to walk again.

His progress was meaningful to the team, although his recovery cannot be attributed to pet sitting alone. His medical treatment and veterinary care were important parts of his journey.

Tommo’s story also shows that caring for pets isn’t always about playtime and cuddles. Sometimes, it involves supporting an animal through a difficult period and paying close attention to their changing needs.

Yolanda’s Story Shows Why Being There Matters

Then came Yolanda, whose story is both heartbreaking and unforgettable.

Isabela was in Bangkok when Yolanda’s furmom, who was in the United States, called her. She desperately needed someone to check on her dog in Daet but couldn’t immediately fly home.

Although Isabela was away, she had a trusted Pet Nanny team in Daet who could respond.

When the team began caring for Yolanda, her condition was already concerning. Isabela advised that she be taken to a veterinarian, where she was diagnosed with distemper and a blood parasite.

Sadly, Yolanda eventually passed away :( 

“Si Yolanda, yes, first heartbreak ko sa Pet Nanny,” Isabela shared. She recalled spending around an hour on the phone with Yolanda’s furmom, comforting her after the loss.

One moment from Yolanda’s final days has stayed with Isabela. Her furmom spoke to her through a CCTV and pet feeder device. When Yolanda heard her voice, her eyes appeared to brighten, and she began looking around, searching for where that familiar sound was coming from.

Reading that part of their story broke my heart. I can only imagine how painful it must have been for Yolanda’s furmom to be so far away, knowing her dog was unwell and wishing she could be there to hold her.

And I can only imagine how difficult it was for Isabela and her team, too. They had taken Yolanda into their care, hoping to help her, only to experience the sadness of losing her.

What stayed with me most was that Isabela’s responsibility didn’t end when Yolanda passed away. She stayed on the phone with her furmom, offering comfort during a moment when there was nothing anyone could say to make the loss easier.

Sometimes, caring for pets also means caring for the people who love them.

Yolanda’s story is also a reminder for us furparents to prepare for emergencies, especially when traveling. Leave your caregiver with your veterinarian’s contact details, your pet’s medical history, and clear instructions about what to do if something seems wrong. If your pet is already unwell, arrange veterinary care before leaving whenever possible.

No amount of preparation can guarantee that everything will be okay. But having a plan and someone who knows when to seek professional help can make an already difficult situation a little less overwhelming.

I wish Yolanda’s story had ended differently. At the very least, during her final days, she got to hear the voice of the person she loved. And her furmom had people in Daet who were there for Yolanda when she couldn’t

Monfort and Peaches: A Reminder That Trust Takes Time

Not every booking involves a medical concern. Sometimes, furparents simply need someone reliable while they travel.

That was the case for Monfort and Peaches, two cheerful dogs from Naga whose owners needed pet care while they were away in Cebu and Manila.

Isabela personally looked after them during their first booking.

While Peaches was jolly, Monfort was initially wary of his unfamiliar surroundings and needed time to adjust. Rather than forcing him to interact, Isabela gave him space and allowed him to get comfortable at his own pace.

By the second day, Monfort had started responding when she called him. He even became comfortable enough to sleep beside the bed.

Their fur parents later booked Pet Nanny for a second time.

I particularly like this part of the story because every pet has a different personality. Some dogs will happily greet anyone who walks through the door, while others need time before they feel safe.

Monfort’s experience is a lovely reminder that gaining an animal’s trust requires patience, consistency, and respect for their boundaries.

What I Appreciate About Pet Nanny’s Story

I haven’t personally booked Pet Nanny yet, so this isn’t a firsthand review of its facilities or a claim that I’ve tested its services.

What I can share is why its story caught my attention.

Isabela created Pet Nanny because she understood a problem that many fur parents experience. She wanted someone she could trust with Luffy and Percy, and she decided to build a service around that need.

Of course, choosing a caregiver is still a personal decision. Before booking any pet care service, I would want to discuss my pet’s routine, temperament, medical needs, emergency arrangements, and how frequently I could expect updates.

But I appreciate the idea behind Pet Nanny: that looking after someone’s pet should involve more than simply making sure they have food and water.

It should also involve patience, communication, and an understanding of how much that animal means to the person who loves them.

What began as a random thought during Isabela’s trip home has grown into a service that has already become part of several furparents’ lives.

Tommo, Yolanda, Monfort, and Peaches each brought a different experience to Pet Nanny. Their stories show that pet care can involve recovery, heartbreak, adjustment, and the simple happiness of knowing your dog is comfortable while you’re away.

And I think that’s what makes this story worth sharing.

Our pets have their own personalities, habits, and little ways of making our days better. Leaving them with someone else is never a small decision, especially when we can’t simply come home whenever we want.

Pet Nanny started because Isabela wanted peace of mind for Luffy and Percy. Now, she hopes to offer that same reassurance to other furparents in Daet.

Sometimes, the most meaningful ideas begin with something we wish existed for ourselves.
